Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Page for Plate (the "Service") operated by Page for Plate (the "Company", "we", "us"), based in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. By subscribing to the Service or using our website at pageforplate.com, you ("Customer", "you") agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
Page for Plate provides a Website-as-a-Service offering for restaurants, including: design and hosting of a custom website, an AI-assisted self-service editor at edit.pageforplate.com for simple updates, email-based support for larger changes, visitor analytics, optional Google Business Profile management, and optional reputation management. Specific deliverables depend on the plan you subscribe to.
2. Subscription & Billing
- Monthly recurring billing. Subscriptions are billed monthly in Canadian dollars (CAD) via Stripe Inc. The first charge occurs at sign-up; subsequent charges occur on the same calendar day each month.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew each month unless cancelled. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on file at each renewal until you cancel.
- Taxes. Applicable Canadian federal (GST/HST) and provincial (PST) taxes are added at checkout where required by law and itemized on your monthly receipt from Stripe.
- Price changes. We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice via email. Existing subscribers will be billed at the old price for at least one full billing cycle after notification.
3. Cancellation & Refunds
- Cancel anytime. You can cancel your subscription at any time by emailing support@pageforplate.com. We will stop billing at the end of your current billing period.
- 30-day money-back guarantee. If you cancel within 30 days of your initial subscription start date, we will refund the full amount you have paid, no questions asked. Just email us at support@pageforplate.com within that window and we will process the refund within 5 business days back to your original payment method.
- No partial-month refunds after 30 days. After the 30-day guarantee window, we do not pro-rate refunds for partial months. You retain access to the Service until the end of the billing period you have already paid for.
- Site take-down on cancellation. Your site will remain online for 30 days after your final billing period ends, then be taken down. On request, we will provide a static HTML export of your site content within 14 days of cancellation, free of charge. The export will include content you provided (logo, your own photos, menu, copy) but will exclude restaurant photos sourced from Google Places, which are licensed only for display while you are an active subscriber — if you want those photos in your export, upload your own copies before cancelling.
- Termination by us. We may suspend or terminate your subscription, with refund of any unused portion, for: (a) non-payment after two failed billing attempts and 7 days' notice; (b) use of the Service for unlawful content; or (c) repeated abuse of our support team.
4. Customer Responsibilities
- You represent that any content you provide (logo, photos, menu, copy, reviews) is owned by you or properly licensed, and does not infringe anyone else's rights.
- You will not use the Service to publish unlawful, defamatory, or misleading content.
- You are responsible for keeping your menu, hours, and contact info accurate. We will update on request within 48 business hours.
- For Full Plate subscribers: you authorize us to manage your Google Business Profile listing and to draft responses to reviews on your behalf. Final review responses are posted only after your written approval (email is sufficient).
5. Intellectual Property
- Your content. You retain ownership of all content you provide to us (logo, photos, menu, copy, etc.). You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that content for the purpose of operating the Service for you.
- Site design. The custom design we create for you is licensed to you for use as your restaurant's website while you are an active subscriber. On cancellation, you receive a static HTML export that you may host elsewhere, royalty-free, in perpetuity.
- Google Places content. Some restaurant photos and business details may be sourced from the Google Places API. This content remains subject to Google's licensing terms and attribution requirements. It is licensed only for display on your Page for Plate site while you are an active subscriber and will not be included in static HTML exports on cancellation. We make no warranty as to the accuracy or completeness of Google Places data.
- Service IP. The plain-English update workflow, hosting infrastructure, analytics dashboard, and underlying templates remain our property and are not transferred on cancellation.
6. AI-assisted content and updates
- Site copy. Initial website copy (taglines, descriptions, About sections) may be drafted with the help of third-party AI tools. You are responsible for reviewing the preview we send you and approving the copy before your site goes live; your acceptance of the preview constitutes approval. We are not liable for inaccuracies or issues in AI-drafted copy you approved.
- Self-service editor (simple changes). You can sign in to your editor at edit.pageforplate.com via a magic link sent to the email you used at checkout, and update menu items, prices, hours, contact details, announcements, social links, ordering URLs, and reservation URLs in plain English. Our AI parses your request, validates it against a strict whitelist of editable fields, and applies it to your site, typically within one to two minutes. There is no separate fee for editor use.
- Email turnaround (larger changes). Changes that fall outside the editor's scope — new sections, structural redesigns, photo replacements, template or branding changes — are handled by email to support@pageforplate.com and typically applied within 48 business hours.
- Your responsibility. You remain responsible for the accuracy of the underlying information you provide us (menu prices, hours, allergen info, etc.). We apply what you tell us; we do not independently verify it. We log every editor request and the resulting edit for quality monitoring and dispute resolution (see our Privacy Policy for retention details).
7. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
8. Service Availability
- We use Cloudflare Pages for hosting and target 99.9% monthly uptime, but we do not commit to a formal SLA at this time.
- We may perform planned maintenance with advance notice, and may take the Service down for emergency maintenance without notice.
- We are not liable for outages caused by third-party providers (Cloudflare, Stripe, Google, the AI provider).
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost revenue, lost profits, or business interruption.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable Canadian consumer-protection law, including the BC Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
11. Governing Law & Disputes
- These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
- Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the courts of British Columbia, located in Vancouver, BC, and you and we consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of those courts.
- Before filing a claim, you agree to first contact us at support@pageforplate.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change.
- For material changes that increase your obligations or reduce the Service (including price increases or feature removals), we will notify active subscribers by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect, and you may cancel without penalty during the notice period.
- For other changes (clarifications, third-party processor updates, minor wording), we will notify active subscribers by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
- Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Contact and copies of these Terms
On request, we will email you a PDF copy of these Terms within 15 days at no charge. Send your request to the email below with the subject line "Terms copy request".
